Religion In China
China, as a civilisation, was mostly separated from European influences, so the Chinese developed their own complex religions. The three main religion in ancient china were Taoism, Buddhism and Confucianism, each with their own beliefs and divine beliefs . These three religions in Chinese culture are named the "three teachings". The ancient Chinese emperors claimed the mandate of heaven, it is the idea that the heavens grant the mandate to an ethical ruler. If the emperor does not accomplish what is needed as an emperor, he will lose the mandate to heaven. Natural disaster are a sign of the heavens dissatisfaction with the current emperor.
TaoismTaoism is a 2500 year old religion from ancient china, it is the way of thinking about life. "Tao" is the name given to a supernatural "force" that makes everything. Taoist say Taoism cannot be described simply by words, the first line of Tao says "the way that can be described by words is not the true way." Taoists do not believe in finding an explanation, but try to focus on a simple, balanced life with nature.

BuddhismBuddhism is an ancient philosophy founded by Siddhartha Gautama. It teaches people to end their suffering by stopping hate and greed, if you do something bad, you will be punished vice-versa, but these actions cannot cancel out each other, commonly known as karma. Buddhism also believes in reincarnation, an endless cycle of rebirth, with ones ultimate goal is to Nirvana and escape the endless cycle.

ConfucianismConfucianism is based around the Chinese philosopher Confucius and his ancient teachings. It had a very complex system of moral, social and religious ideas hat influenced the way china developed. This religion was to bring china together after the fall of the Zhou dynasty, and people became selfish, but it taught the people to respect one another.
